NATRON
Sunset Labs
Highlights: 7 years, 40 shows+, Artist VEMF 2009 & 2010
For Nathan Docksteader aka Natron the fascination and future inspiration for and from electronic music began in the late 90′s after hearing the cutting edge music being played and produced by Sasha & John Digweed, Dave Seaman, Nick Warren and others who were all at the head of the pack, leading the way and focused on the underground sounds of progressive house music. As his interest and passion for electronic music grew he knew he had to find a way to share this intense emotion and calling with others. The medium of choice was obvious – In early 2003 Natron hit the decks and began DJing with a solid foundation of inspiration and experiences to draw from. 2004 was the year that opened up and further focused Nathan’s life as an artist more than almost any other. Meeting the Moreh brothers (a.k.a. Shiloh) truly helped shape and define the way Natron played music and gave him insights into how he listened to and what he heard in music and further cemented his already firm foundation that has thus enabled him to continually evolve and grow. Natron’s DJing style can best be described as a dynamic blend of cutting edge progressive house and tech. These sounds combined with his savvy ability to read the crowd and an almost inherent gift for track selection and programming has proven to satisfy even the most insatiable of dance floor fanatics throughout Victoria and Vancouver Island and his incredibly well crafted and delivered sets always leave them craving more. With his recent addition to the Sunset Collaborations roster you can expect to hear, see and look forward to much more of Natron in a future that is here right now!
DESUNOS
Tribe, Sunset Collaborations, Rainbow Cathedral
Throwing down dynamic dance music since the summer of 2006, DJ Desunos (aka Laughlin Meagher) grew his roots in dub, reggae and world ethno electronic music, and now finds his home in electro/progressive house with a dash of breaks. Through his work as a lead singer/songwriter, dee-jaying has become a natural evolution for this dynamic live performer. With 17 years experience on stage Laughlin knows how to rock an audience and is well known for his harmonica solos, his skill on the melodica and his live MCing & vocals. A skilled multi-instrumentalist and dedicated student of music, you never know what he will bring next to his show. Crossing many genres, Desunos has shared the stage with many local and international acts including Adham Shaikh, Joshua, Kaminanada, David Starfire, Timothy Wisdom, Gaudi, and Liquid Stranger. Coming soon to a bumpin’ sound system near you!
ROWAN
Genres: Techno, Tech House, World Beat
Highlights: 12 years, 8 festivals, 100+ shows, 8 tracks
Striving to bring people together through fusion of cultures and sounds, this promoter/dj/producer is frequently found rocking dance floors alongside heavyweights such as Adham Shaikh, Gaudi, David Starfire, Liquid Stranger, and Jef Stott. With his broad range of influences and keen mixing skills, Rowan deftly navigates through meditative & inspiring downtempo/Hip Hop, glitchy acid breaks, and high energy ethnic techno. This summer Rowan’s dusk set at Lasqueti Escape galvanized some amazing energy on the dancefloor before Ganga Giri took the stage. Also making his debut at the Soundwave festival this summer, Rowan’s talent and love for music will continue to bring him in front of amazing, inspired and intentional dancefloors again and again.
