LADY RA
{ beats without borders } ladyra.com
Lady Ra emerged in 1996 via CFRU 93.3 fm in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. Freshly trained on antiquated community radio equipment and given free reign of the extensive music library, each show she was able to program was a revelation. Ethnic flavours quickly emerged as her primary passion.
Upon relocating to Vancouver, Canada, she cofounded the Beats Without Borders Collective. She has both hosted and shared the stage with musical wizards such as Gaudi, Makyo, SubSwara, Nickodemus, and others too many to count.
She travels both overland and underground, to places both near and far; Yemen, Ethiopia, Tunisia, Spain, Cuba, India, Sri Lanka, and Indonesia being but a few. She does so with her ear to the ground, seeking out and weaving old and new world sounds into rich musical tapestries hailing from the Four Corners of Earth.

rainforest’s of the west coast.

Progressive Trance, Tribal Breaks and Organic Psychedelia. His sets are always a metamorphosis of angelic frequencies to deep earthly vibrations,,, finding your heart in the middle with conscious lyrics and chants from around the globe.
A few of Joshua’s James highlights include Opening the beach stage for Shambhala’s 10th year anniversary, Fairies and Fools Carnival, The Oracle Gatherings, Diversity Festival, Soundwave festival, The Big Time Out Festival, Entheos Conference, to promoting Epic Full Moon celebrations every month in Victoria, to countless one night events that have injected his soul with the spirit of dance culture in the last decade.

GRANDPA PHUNK
*The Soul Selector*
I do not feel where I’ve played is as important as where I play from, and so let me tell you a bit about that;
Funk and Soul are not genres, but energies held by music, within the rhythms, the sounds, and most importantly the silence inbetween. We all have a sense for the warmth & uplifting quality of true Funk, we can all be moved by the depth and heart opening quality of true Soul, and we can all create with these inspiring qualites because of one singular truth: we all share the same thing inside us where they are created from, the place they bring us to when we experience them ~ the space of intuition, truth, being, where our infinite potential lives.
This is what guides me when I select music; not what I can imagine people liking, or what is played by that DJ we all love. It wont make it into my track library just because it “kinda sounds like that other track”, or because it has that bassline that seems to get everybody screaming. I select my music through the feeling it stirs inside that lifts us up, warms our hearts, finds its way onto our faces in the form of a smile and makes us want to dance, where we are when we hear it. “We love Soul music as it is made of what we are. Love”
~ Come and help me start out this beautiful night and experience & celebrate all that life is and can be. ~
DJ ROWAN { sunset labs, sublime }
Striving to bring people together through fusion of cultures and sounds, this promoter/dj/producer is frequently found rocking dance floors alongside heavyweights such as Adham Shaikh, Gaudi, David Starfire, Liquid Stranger, and Jef Stott. With his broad range of influences and keen mixing skills, Rowan deftly navigates through meditative & inspiring downtempo/Hip Hop, glitchy acid breaks, and high energy ethnic techno. This summer Rowan’s dusk set at Lasqueti Escape galvanized some amazing energy on the dancefloor before Ganga Giri took the stage. Also making his debut at the Soundwave festival this summer, Rowan’s talent and love for music will continue to bring him in front of amazing, inspired and intentional dancefloors again and again.
